This rule was set by Australian Govt. after some incidents in which children fell in pool. To prevent these type of incidents Australian Law requires a fence around the pool and make it sure that the kids don’t get access to pool without supervision.

It is not specified in the law, what type of style and material should be used to build a fence around the swimming pool. Standard picket fence can be said as recommendable. But as a pool builder there are several rules and regulation that should be taken into the account. For example in case of chain link, the mesh should not go beyond 2.25 inches. Incase the fence is made by bricks or stones; there should not be any protrusions or indentions that help someone to climb over the fence. The Australian Law also said that the pool fence must have an entry gate that process as a self-closing or self-latching protocol.
