How to Plant a Plant?

You may want to have a lush green lawn filled with beautiful flowers to increase the scenery of your home or you wish to have fresh fruits or vegetables from your garden. Whatever you want, you just need right tools and techniques to fulfill your wishes in an easy and efficient manner.

First of all you need right things for planting. Some important things for planting a plant are: spade or trowel, shovel, pick axe, wheelbarrow, garden gloves, hoe, fork, fertilizers, mulching material, etc. Before planting a plant check whether your garden has a good watering system, make sure that your garden area is well drained but it should not droughty and always select the soil that is best for your area climate and its best to have a fence around your garden or plot for the protection of the plants.

Preparing the soil is the most important part of the planting. You can have a better garden if the soil conditions are suitable for planting. Better the condition, better the plants you will have. Adding rotten organic material to soil is the best way to do so. You can add rotted leaves, aged manure, compost, peat moss, etc. Check the pH level of the soil; it is best to have a soil that is slightly acid. There are various materials available in market to change the level of pH in your garden. Loosen up the soil to a maximum of 18 inches using a spade, shovel or fork. Water the soil if it is very dry to make your work easy but remember the soil should not be too muddy. Remove rocks, weeds and branches from the soil.

Select the seeds of the plants you want to have in your garden very carefully. Always select a seed that is suitable for the soil and the climate of your area. Read the instructions on the seed package very carefully before using it. Take an advice from an expert if you have any difficulty. Seed boxes can be used if have to wait for good weather. Spread the seeds in soil as instructed on the seed package. You can sow seeds in any pattern you want, it can be in rows, in beds or some shapes. Water your plot or garden as required by the plants you are using.

You can also buy small or early plants from a nursery. These plants come in pots normally. Check the pot if it is dry, give it some water. You have to dig a hole twice as big as the pot and deep as half of the height of the pot. Take out the plant from the pot; take the rootball in the middle of the hole, level it and fill the soil around it while firming it downwards. After leveling the soil give good water to plant.

Water your plants as instructed, look after them and keep your garden clean from dangerous weeds and insects. Sun light is an important thing for plants. Some requires more and some less, always make sure that your plants are having it as they require.
