When to Water Your Garden?

Almost every person that owns a garden has a question in mind and that is when to water the garden? It is a very common and valid question because watering your garden on the right time results in a green and lush garden. On the other hand watering your garden at the wrong time can hurt and destroy the garden. Most of the people do it wrong even People that researched about this question and mix it with their own logic do it wrong.

There are various soil types; some need less water and some need more. You need to know exactly what type of soil do you have in your garden and how much amount of water your garden needs. A garden that has the normal type of soil needs approximately one inch of water every week. Watering your garden more than it requires or less than its requirements is unhealthy for your garden. The best and easiest way to do it the right way and on the right time is to water your garden little bit on a daily basis. Water your garden with a sprinkling hose while walking around the garden could be a good idea but drip watering systems, targeted hoses and water cans are more effective and efficient.

The best time to water your garden according to experts is early morning when the temperature is low. This thing reduces the evaporation effect, wastage of water and makes it sure that the garden gets enough water to suffer the day’s heat. A deep soaking of the water should be given to the garden every few days and it should be also done in the early morning. Watering your garden during the day when the heat is on its top level is not a good idea because the heat results in more evaporation and less use of water by garden soil. Watering your garden in the evening when there is no heat is also good but if and only if you water the garden early enough that plants in your garden dry before the nightfall. If garden left moist in the night then it can cause damage to the roots and fungal infections to the leaves.

You can check the water level in the soil of your garden with a simple and easy test and find out that your garden needs water or not. Pick some soil from your garden and check if it crumbles and drier than your garden is in need of quick watering. The normal soil that has correct quantity of moisture will get into the shape of a weak ball and that ball will have a rough surface. If there is too much moisture in the soil than the ball will have your finger marks on its surface and it will stain your fingers and water will come out of it. In this case there is no need to water your garden.

Taj Mahal - The Source of Inspiration and Romantic Fanaticism

The Taj Mahal is a source of inspiration and romantic fanaticism throughout the world, with the story of how it came to be drawing millions to view its magnificence every year. Like any epic love story that has been given nearly 400 years to ferment, the details have been embellished and rumours and myths have become fact, so now it is hard to say for sure what is true or what is not.

The story all starts in 1592 with the birth of Prince Shihab-ud-din Muhammad Khurram who would later become Shah Jahan: the fifth emperor of the Mughal Empire in South Asia from 1628 until 1658. The story goes that when Prince Khurram was 14 years old, he was walking through the city bazaar, accompanied by a string of courtiers, when he caught a glimpse of a girl selling silk and glass beads. It was love at first sight and so he went back to his father and declared his desire to marry the girl. Her name was Arjumand Banu Begum, the niece of Prince Khurram's stepmother and while they were betrothed that same year, they had to wait 5 years (and an extra wife for the prince) before a favourable date was set by the court astrologers.
Over the next 19 years they were inseparable and Arjumand accompanied the prince on his military campaigns (even while heavily pregnant) and bore him 14 children. She was his closest friend and advisor and she also encouraged him to perform acts of charity and benevolence towards the weak and needy which led to her being much loved by the people of the empire. When he succeeded to the throne and became Shah Jahan, he also gave his wife the regal title of Mumtaz Mahal meaning "Jewel of the Palace".
It was during the birth of her final child in 1631 that the story takes a tragic turn. Mumtaz had been accompanying her husband while he was fighting a campaign in the Deccan Plateau when she went into labour which resulted in severe complications and her unfortunate death. Her body was temporarily buried at Burhanpur in a walled pleasure garden but Shah Jahan never intended for this to be her final resting spot so her body was disinterred in December 1631 and transported in a golden casket and escorted by one of her sons back to Agra. There it was interred in a small building on the banks of the Yamuna River to await it's new home. Shah Jahan stayed behind in Burhanpur to conclude the military campaign but while there, he began planning the design and construction of a suitable mausoleum and funerary garden for his wife. It was a task that would take more than 22 years and 20,000 workers to complete: The Taj Mahal.

In the immediate aftermath of Mumtaz's death, the emperor was reportedly inconsolable and one of the more popular stories tells how he went into secluded mourning for a year. When he appeared again, his hair had turned white, his back was bent, and his face worn as he felt he could not go on living without his beloved. While the story ends in 1631, its memory lives on in the Taj Mahal; a symbol of eternal love. English poet, Sir Edwin Arnold best describes it as "Not a piece of architecture, as other buildings are, but the proud passion of an emperor's love wrought in living stones."

Airbus A380

The Airbus A380 is the largest passenger jet ever built -- so huge that airports have to be redesigned to accommodate it. It can pack in more passengers and cargo than any other commercial airliner, yet its designers claim it will actually increase efficiency, use less fuel and generate less noise. The maximum certified carrying capacity is 853 passengers in an all-economy-class layout,Airbus lists the typical three-class layout as accommodating 525 passengers, with 10 first, 76 business, and 439 economy class seats. Overall, the A380’s two decks offer 50 per cent more floor surface than any other high-capacity aircraft.

The Airbus A380 is a double-deckwide-body, four-engine jet airliner manufactured by the European corporation Airbus, a subsidiary ofEADS. It is the world's largest passenger airliner and, due to its size, many airports have had to upgrade their facilities to properly accommodate it. Initially named Airbus A3XX, the aircraft was designed to challenge Boeing's monopoly in the large-aircraft market; the A380 made its first flight on 27 April 2005 and began commercial service in October 2007 with Singapore Airlines.
The A380's upper deck extends along the entire length of the fuselage, with a width equivalent to a wide-body aircraft. This allows for an A380-800's cabin with 478 square metres (5,145.1 sq ft) of floor space; 49% more floor space than the next-largest airliner, the Boeing 747-400 with 321 square metres (3,455.2 sq ft), and provides seating for 525 people in a typical three-class configuration or up to 853 people in all-economy class configurations. The A380-800 has a design range of 15,400 kilometres (8,300 nmi; 9,600 mi), sufficient to fly from New York to Hong Kong, and a cruising speed of Mach 0.85 (about 900 km/h or 560 mph at cruising altitude).

The A380 was initially offered in two models. The A380-800 original configuration carried 555 passengers in a three-class configuration or 853 passengers (538 on the main deck and 315 on the upper deck) in a single-class economy configuration. In May 2007 Airbus began marketing a configuration with 30 fewer passengers, (525 total in three classes), traded for 370 km (200 nmi) more range, to better reflect trends in premium class accommodation. The design range for the −800 model is 15,400 km (8,300 nmi); capable of flying from Hong Kong to New York or from Sydney to Istanbul non-stop. The second model, the A380F freighter, would carry 150 tonnes of cargo 10,400 km (5,600 nmi). The freighter development was put on hold as Airbus prioritised the passenger version and all cargo orders were cancelled. Future variants may include an A380-900 stretch seating about 656 passengers (or up to 960 passengers in an all economy configuration) and an extended-range version with the same passenger capacity as the A380-800.

As of November 2012 there had been 262 firm orders for the A380, of which 92 have been delivered. The largest order, for 90 aircraft, was from Emirates.

A Brief History of Swimming Pools

From the early ages mankind has attracted towards the water. Water is always a symbol of fun, enjoyment, adventure and fantasy for human being. The experts have discovered the first swimming pool ever constructed was in “Mohenjo-Daro”, a site in modern Pakistan. This pool was built during the 3rd millennium BC. This swimming pool is called “The Great Bath”. This pool was built with bricks and then plastered with some tar based sealant.

In ancient Egypt, swimming was also a known activity as many old structures has found in Egypt that have told us that the ancient Egyptians knew the art of swimming very well. History of ancient Rome and Greece has also told us that the swimming was taught as a subject in elementary schools. These two civilizations have also built some artificial pools. That pools were used for military exercises and nautical games. First public swimming pool was built in Rome. “Kutam Pokuna” was the name of the pairs of swimming pool built in 4th century BC in the ancient kingdom of Anuradhapura.

An old wealthy Roman lord Gaius Maecenas built the first heated water swimming pool for the public. Many ancient cultures such as Phoenicians, Assyrians and Babylonians have left many strong proofs of their love for swimming.

In the mid of 19th century swimming pools became very popular in England. Maidstone Swimming club started in 1844 in Kent, England is believed as the oldest surviving swimming pool club in Britain.

The popularity of swimming and swimming pools increases after the start of modern Olympics in 1896. First major indoor swimming pool for public at Temple Cowley was owned by Oxford.  In 1869 the Amateur Swimming Association was established in England. After the World War I, the man improved the swimming standards and the training for swimming became essential.

The Racquet Club of Philadelphia, USA in 1907 built the world’s one of the first above ground swimming pool. After World War II in USA, the trend of having a swimming pool in the backyard of the house became very popular. In 1959, a two storey pool was built at the Royal Roads Military College in Canada. This pool was built with white concrete and it was shaped as of horizontal cubic volumes. This pool is also one of the historic places of Canada.

Swimming as a “sport of choice” for many modern athletes is very famous. Almost every city in the modern world has public swimming pools where people can have fun or swim for competitively. Swimming Lessons are also offered at a reasonable price at many swimming areas. Many keen swimmers have built their own swimming pools in the backyard of their home.

There is an interesting long history of swimming pools with the diversity of locations, models and designs. Nowadays as the heated swimming pools are available in almost every major city of the world, everyone can enjoy swimming any time of the year and around the globe.

Australian Pool Regulations

Swimming pool is a great way to enjoy and have pleasure especially in summer. In case of having a swimming pool in your own home also adds value to your property. If you want to have a swimming pool in your own home, you have to follow some rules and regulation required by state law while living in Australia. So, if you want to build a pool you should hire a good pool builder or incase you want to build your pool on your own, you should know and have a good understanding of the rules and regulations. These rules are put together to ensure the safety of the citizens. Most important rule that should be followed when you want to build a pool is to build a fence and build it according to the law.

All in-ground swimming pools must be surrounded by a fence. Australian law requires that the fence should be built by a professional fence builder and the fence should be 4 feet high at the minimum. There should not be a space left more than 2 inches between the floor and the lower end of the fence and the space between the vertical posts of the fence should not go beyond 1.75 inches. These are the main things that should be considered before building a fence around a swimming pool.

This rule was set by Australian Govt. after some incidents in which children fell in pool. To prevent these type of incidents Australian Law requires a fence around the pool and make it sure that the kids don’t get access to pool without supervision.

It is not specified in the law, what type of style and material should be used to build a fence around the swimming pool. Standard picket fence can be said as recommendable. But as a pool builder there are several rules and regulation that should be taken into the account. For example in case of chain link, the mesh should not go beyond 2.25 inches. Incase the fence is made by bricks or stones; there should not be any protrusions or indentions that help someone to climb over the fence. It is also an important thing to consider that the opening should be little enough to keep out a 4 inch area from entering the swimming pool.

The Australian Law also said that the pool fence must have an entry gate that process as a self-closing or self-latching protocol. It also required that the gate should open either towards the pool or away from the pool. The pool entry gate should be secured after the usage of the pool. A child proof lock or a combination of lock can be considered for this purpose.

Temporary barriers must be installed during the process of construction. These temporary barriers must have a height of 4 feet. This is the precaution to ban the non-constructor in the construction site. These rules and regulations are important as they safeguard your dear ones by ensuring that any harm doesn’t come across.

Above Ground vs. In Ground Pools

It is a very convenient way to enjoy and cool off in the hot summer months with your family and friends, if you have your own backyard swimming pool. Children love to be in a pool. It is one of the greatest ways for kids to enjoy and have fun. The time when you make the decision to construct a pool in your backyard, is not only the time when you construct a leisure environment but it can also enhance your property’s value. Having a swimming pool in your backyard provides you with many options for relaxation and fun.
Before constructing a swimming pool it is a big question in front of you that should you build an in-ground or above ground swimming pool?

Both types of swimming pool models are popular, but before constructing a pool it is a must to decide which is best for your home and for you. In ground and above ground pools have many benefits and disadvantages of their own. So, before making a decision it is recommended that you should study the details about them.

Above Ground vs. In Ground Pools

Cost is a main factor to consider while deciding the type of the pool. Above ground pools are cheaper than the in ground ones. An above ground pool can cost you in-between the range of few hundred dollars to few thousands, depending the size, style and material of the pool while the in-ground pools are much expensive as they can cost you from 5000 to 10000 dollars.

Size is also an important factor; in many situations the backyard of your home may not be very large to have an in-ground swimming pool. This is the situation where the above ground pools are beneficial. These are easy to install and comes in various sizes. So, it is easy to select an above ground pool according to your backyard space. However, it can be more creative to choose an in-ground swimming pool. In-ground pools can be designed in many shapes like simple rectangular shape to more curvaceous which makes your backyard a new aesthetic look. In-ground pools can be constructed with the depths of your own choice while the above ground pools usually come with 4.5 feet of depth.

Maintenance is almost same for both types of pools, having an above ground pool does not mean that you treat it like an overgrown kiddy pool. You have to buy and maintain same pump and filters for an above ground pool as for an in-ground pool. In-ground pool’s maintenance can be more time consuming because of the style and size. However the small sized above ground pool is much easier to maintain rather than the in-ground pool.

While considering the safety feature, above ground pool is considered as much safer than the in-ground pools. Remove the ladder from the above ground pool and it is not in use and also away from the reach of the children.
