Healthy, lush green lawn is a dream of every person that owns a lawn. Keeping your healthy and green is not a rocket science; everyone can have a green and healthy lawn with some care, effective knowledge and applying that knowledge. There are no big secrets to convert your lawn in a healthy one, following just 5 tips can earn you a healthy lawn. These steps or tips are not very difficult to do.

Tip 1: Always remember to mow your lawn when it’s needed. Don’t mow your lawn needlessly. Don’t mow your lawn too low because cutting the grass too low removes the parts of the grass leaves that play a very important part in the growth of the grass. It's also very important to ensure that the blades of your mower are sharp not dull. It is important to have sharp blades as it ensures a smooth and effortless cut. If the blades are not sharp than it is a chance that grass turn brown.

Tip 2: Watering your lawn perfectly ensures a healthy green lawn. It is one of the most important things to consider. In normal circumstances 1 inch of water per week is required by a lawn. Make it your habit to give a deep soak for one hour or little more to your lawn once a week. Install a watering system for your lawn. Pop-up sprinklers, above ground sprinklers, drip watering are some efficient watering systems for lawns. Automatic computerised watering systems are also available these days. These systems help you to have a healthy lawn as they water your lawn even you are not around.

Tip 3: It is very important to know the pH level of your lawn’s soil. Normally pH level of 6.5 is considered as ideal for soils. Some grass or soil types need different alkaline or acidic levels. You can use a DIY kit to test your soil’s pH level. In case of a high pH level use alkaline lime to reduce the pH level and use organic materials if the pH level of the soil is low. Sulphur and iron sulfate can be used if the pH is tremendously high.

Tip 4: Fertilising your lawn at the right rate is very important. The ideal application rate of fertiliser is 2-3.5 pounds per 1000 square feet. While you apply fertilising material to your lawn don’t walk very fast as the material will not reach as far as needed and overspread. Walking very slow can also hurt as the material will not spread evenly and you need to fertilise again therefore, speed is very important as you fertilise your lawn.

Tip 5: If you follow the steps detailed above you will reduce the level of the weeds and unnecessary grass and plants from your lawn. You can get rid of these things at all by applying some strategies such as; applying gluten meal prevents weeds and crabgrass. You can use Milky spore to eradicate grubs. This is a poisonous bacteria which are harmful only and only for grubs.
